10 probable reasons why Comedy Nights with Kapil is going off air

01
Repetitive characters- Comedy Nights with Kapil has perhaps broken all records on TV to become the most loved and watched comedy show. With a host of actors playing different characters, CNWK has gone on to score and rule the TVP charts. Kapil Sharma is a celebrity in his own way and a much sought after personality. And thanks to him and the show and the channel Colors, other characters too have become popular, be it bua (played by Upasna Singh), dadi (played by Ali Asgar) or Kapil Sharma's onscreen wife Sumona Chakravarty. But often enough, these regular character become repetitive and though they are permanent fixtures on the show, it would be nice to have more new characters introduced to the show. While dadi is famous for her flirtatious acts and bua for wanting to marry any man who is remotely single and eligible, these stunts by the characters are now getting boring and perhaps this could be one reason why the show is allegedly going off air, albeit briefly.

02
Jokes are becoming repetitive- After the punch lines, even the jokes are becoming repetitive. Whether the joke is about Sumona's big lips or Kapil and she bickering about their families, it's done to death. Initially, when Comedy Nights with Kapil aired, everyone loved the uniqueness of the show that gave comedy a new meaning on Indian Television. It was not slapstick, crass or below the belt jokes. They were clean and healthy and fun for all to watch. But in the one year since its inception, certain things do not change and remain a constant. Kapil and Sumona's jokes are no more entertaining nor is Palak's poetry or Siddhu's shayari. Kapil too jokes with the audiences and guests who come on his show. He has asked almost everyone if they ever imagined they would make it on the sets of Comedy Nights with Kapil. Host Kapil's jokes on the audiences are mean but they were entertaining. But now, it's almost as if viewers can predict what Kapil is going to say next, which is usually a mean joke at the expense of the audience in the studio. This could also be a reason why the show's taking a break by going off air.

03
Boredom- The format of the show does not change much. A small skit is usually performed by the characters with Sidhu Paaji giving his own commentary and shayari. Whether it's Kapil bickering with his onscreen wife Sumona or having the famous verbal fight with Palak (Kiku Sharda) or bua trying to woo the guests on the show, monotony has certainly set in with nothing fresh to offer. The only constant change is the guests who come on the show, though some have come more than once also. This could be another reason why the channel and makers are said to be taking a break and will be seen after a short hiatus to make the show more innovative and interesting.

04
Kapil Sharma's Bollywood commitments- Kapil Sharma is one busy man and everyone knows that. The extremely talented comedian has been offered the lead role in n Y-Films' Bank Chor and has a 3-film contract & talent management deal with Yash Raj Films. Talking to The Times of India, the actor was quoted saying, "It's a privilege and a dream to be part of the YRF family and have my launch with their Youth Films Studio, Y-Films. The script is the most exciting part since it's the kind of role that's very unlike the stereotype of a comedian or what people could typecast me as. As an actor it's challenging and I'm so excited that I've already started working on the nuances of the character. I've always loved and watched thrillers and this is a thriller comedy so even better. I've done serious theatre for years before comedy. Finally with YRF's vision, I'll get to do this again after a 12-year break and this script has equal scope of comedy. It's sure to surprise my fans!" While Kapil is all set to launch himself in Bollywood, juggling two hectic schedules can be taxing and perhaps this second career is one of the reasons why CNWK is said to be going off air.

05
Focus more on promotions than on skit- What would films do if Comedy Nights with Kapil did not exist? They would continue to promote their films on every other reality show on TV. But ever since the inception of Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors, it's as if coming on the show is a must and guarantees a hit. That's because audiences and viewers love the show and characters so much. From Shahrukh Khan to Kareena Kapoor Khan, the team of Holiday- A Soldier is never off Duty to the team of Humshakals, perhaps every star in Bollywood today has graced the sets of CNWK, even though they are not doing a film. Such is the popularity of Kapil's show. Every star wants to be on Comedy Nights...as it has a vast connect with audiences. But the show seems to have become more about celebs and their film promotions rather than the skits on the show. The acts are becoming lesser and their duration is also shortening. Kapil is always asking the cast and celebrities about their films, shows or what they are going to do next or are doing. Comedy Nights has become a platform of sorts to promote Bollywood films rather than being an entirely popular comedy show that has stars as just one element to it.

06
Less frequency of other characters- While dadi is seen in almost every episode of Comedy nights with Kapil and is seen the most after Kapil Sharma, other characters like Bua, Dadi, Palak and servant Raju are seen on and off. While Sumona who plays Kapil's onscreen wife is also busy with her film shootings as she will be seen in Salman khan's Kick, even Ali Asgar has his other professional commitments. When Pinky bua's grand wedding happened, she was missing from the sets of Comedy Nights with Kapil for a long time as she had other work commitments. Upasana Singh aka Pinky bua plays a pivotal role on a fiction show called Bani, which is aired on Colors itself. Even the house help Raju is not seen so frequently compared to other characters, even though this is the show's format. Ace comedian Raju Srivastav who played a hairdresser on CNWK, was much loved by audiences but his presence on the show was restricted to a few episodes. If such innovative ideas are used more on the show and by increasing the frequency of new and old characters, then the show will reach new heights!

07
Shelf life- Take the most popular fiction and nonfiction shows on Indian Television, one day, they all have to come to an end. When a show reaches its peak, its difficult to sustain it and retain the audiences' attention. From Uttaran to Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi, every show, be it reality or fiction has a shelf life. Comedy Nights with Kapil is no exception. The format has perhaps offered everything it could and the innovative factor about the show is slowly dying. Though it remains hugely popular and unbeaten, it cannot entertain beyond a certain point. And maybe this is one reason why the channel and makers are taking a short break to bring in new concepts and perhaps new characters. It will be interesting to see what new innovations come in season 2. If more characters are introduced (we still miss Gutthi) and if the existing ones come with new punch lines, perhaps this show will last longer and will not have to break into season 2.

08
More expectations from the channel- Colors has hit jackpot with Comedy Nights with Kapil and its host Kapil Sharma. The show has become so popular and addictive that viewers just can't seem to get enough of it. Aired on weekends, CNWK has the who's who of the film and TV fraternity and many Indian sportspersons and legends gracing the show. The ability to get big stars and Kapil's aptitude to deal flawlessly with the celebs and joke with them has made it one of the most loved shows. So much so that Arjun Kapoor had said on Comedy Nights... while promoting Gunday that had his mother been alive, she would have loved the show. This is proof of Kapil's popularity. But with this, audiences expect more from the channel and want it to air through the week instead of the two day weekend schedule. But since Kapil believes in quality and this is not a saas bahu show that airs daily, it becomes difficult to meet the expectations of the audience and this could also be one reason what the show is going off air for a temporary period to be back with season 2.

09
Kapil Sharma over exposed- Kapil Sharma won Comedy Circus and was hugely popular on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. From there his career soared and a new face had arrived on Indian Television. When Comedy Nights with Kapil debuted on TV, it took the nation by storm! Suddenly everyone was either talking about it or tweeting. From stars to the common man, everyone loved Kapil Sharma and his mad onscreen family and team. Almost every film was promoted on this hugely popular show. From Kapil's antics to his mean jokes and his ability to mingle with celebs, he has become a star. His punch lines and fights with Sumona and Palak are entertaining and his sense of humour is simple, clean and hits the bulls eye. But over a period of time, since Kapil is onscreen the maximum, somewhere he is over exposed, giving audiences an overdose of him. Since the show runs on him, he has to be there in every episode as he also asks the guests questions about their films and helps in promoting them. But maybe if he had lesser time on screen for some episodes, it would create a desirability to see him more often. The audiences would crave to see more of him. Maybe that's why the show is going off air for a while in order to renew the show and bring in fresh ideas.

10
Make way for new shows- Maybe the show is said to be going off air as it will be a breather for viewers and the makers of the show. Or this could also be a strategy to introduce a new show instead of Comedy Nights with Kapil so that viewers cherish and miss the show. And the rumours doing the rounds are that a stand up comedy show featuring Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh will replace CNWK. Bharti became famous with Comedy Circus and her characters like Lalli became famous on The Great Indian Laughter challenge. She's equally popular and is known to host many shows and awards. Krushna needs no introduction. After keep audiences in splits on TV, he did a fantastic job in Bol Bachchan and if these two come together for a short while also on screen, it will be a sure shot laugh riot!
